All I Got

2 May

We saw Colin Hay at the Park West this weekend and all I got was this tiny picture.  Turns out, Hipstamatic for iPhone doesn’t zoom.  He was amazing.  I had no idea what to expect.  He was really funny and had great stories about his childhood, his early days as a musician and his father who passed away recently.  He loves The Beatles, too and talked a bit about these surreal moments he’s had over the years on tour with Ringo or when Paul McCartney and Heather Mills invited themselves over to his house in Los Angeles for dinner.  Ha.

He played a long show – over two hours, maybe longer.  His voice is incredibly soulful and compelling.  Here’s a preview.

He is on tour now.  See him if you can (though I think he’s nearing the end of his tour).  It’s a beautiful show.

We thought he was great, too. We saw him in January for our first date away from C.

Always liked Colin Hay. I remember the Men at Work days, and I’ve been catching a few of his solo tunes on the radio. Cool for you – glad you enjoyed the show.

He played some Men at Work songs. Very nice, acoustic renditions. He reminds me of Phil Collins, in a way. Good way.
